Wendy's Success Story: Small Changes, Lasting Results at 63

At 63 years old, Wendy Gordon is proving that it's never too late to invest in your health. When Wendy joined the Game of Stones programme in March, her goal wasn't to follow a strict diet or make drastic lifestyle changes. She wanted practical support, realistic advice and someone to help keep her accountable. Just a few months later, Wendy has achieved remarkable results through small, sustainable habit changes.

A Journey to Better Health

When Wendy began the programme, she weighed 101 kg (15 stone 13 lb), today, she weighs 93.75 kg (14 stone 11 lb). That's an incredible weight loss of 7.25 kg (over one stone) but the changes haven't just been reflected on the scales. Wendy has also improved her HbA1c from 55 mmol/mol to 51 mmol/mol, demonstrating that the healthy choices she has made are positively impacting the management of her Type 2 diabetes.

Small Changes That Made a Big Difference

One of the biggest messages from Wendy's journey is that successful weight loss doesn't have to involve extreme diets or giving up the foods you enjoy. Instead, Wendy focused on a few achievable SMART goals that gradually became part of her daily routine.

She committed to:

• 🚶 Walking more and increasing her daily physical activity.

• 🥗 Reducing the amount of carbohydrates in her meals.

• 🥦 Filling her plate with plenty of vegetables, salad and lean protein.

• ☕ Enjoying her tea and coffee without sugar.

These simple lifestyle changes soon became healthy habits, making them easier to maintain over time.

Healthy Changes Can Happen at Any Stage of Life

Many people believe that improving their health becomes more difficult as they get older. Wendy's journey is a wonderful reminder that meaningful change is possible at any stage of life. By making small, consistent improvements rather than aiming for perfection, she has transformed her eating habits, become more active and improved both her weight and her diabetes management.

Her story shows that you don't have to change everything at once. Sometimes the smallest changes, repeated every day, create the biggest results.

Congratulations, Wendy! Wendy, you should be incredibly proud of what you've achieved.

Losing over one stone, improving your HbA1c, reaching your weight-loss milestone and creating healthier habits is a fantastic accomplishment. More importantly, you've shown that lasting change comes from consistency, determination and believing that every small step counts.

Your journey is an inspiration to others living with Type 2 diabetes and shows that with the right support, realistic goals and a positive mindset, better health is within reach.

Congratulations, Wendy, and thank you for inspiring others with your incredible achievement! 💚
